Inc. Magazine Unveils 29th Annual List of

America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies—the Inc. 500

SaveOnResorts.com Ranks No. 289 on the 2010 Inc. 500 with Three-Year Sales Growth of 1,055%

NEW YORK, August 24, 2010Inc. magazine today ranked SaveOnResorts.com  NO. 289, and NO. 1 in the Travel Industry, on its 29th annual Inc. 500, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent-minded entrepreneurs. Companies such as Microsoft, Zappos, Intuit, GoDaddy, Zipcar, Clif Bar, American Apparel, Oracle, and many other well-known names gained early exposure as members of the Inc. 500.

“Fast growth at any time is a big achievement; fast growth during the past few years is just short of miraculous,” said Inc. editor Jane Berentson. “The Inc. 500 consists of these just-short-of miraculous companies, the ones that through ingenuity and ambition have increased revenue, hired employees, and grown fast in difficult economic times.”

SaveOnResorts.com was founded in 2004 by Kevin Schneider and Elliot Springer with the idea of creating an online platform by which to provide resort networks across the globe with qualified leads for their timeshare and vacation sales presentations.  The popularity of the Do Not Call list (DNC) and a rapid increase in online travel bookings prompted SaveOnResorts.com to quickly work towards replacing the call centers historically used by timeshare and vacation club companies to solicit travelers. SaveOnResorts.com provides customers with deeply discounted vacation packages, nightly accommodations, and other travel services in exchange for their participation in a brief sales presentation while on vacation.  Since their inception, SaveOnResorts.com has become synonymous with discount travel for both timeshare and non-timeshare companies.  Through the combination of their proprietary online booking technology and a San Diego, CA based customer service center, they have proven year after year to tens of thousands of families, couples and individuals that there are a variety of affordable domestic and international travel options available.

The 2010 Inc. 500, unveiled in the September issue of Inc. magazine (available on newsstands August 24 to November 16 and on Inc.com), is a group of companies that are smaller but much faster-growing than last year’s crop. Aggregate revenue is $11.3 billion—down from last year’s $18.4 billion—but median three-year growth is 1,231 percent, substantially up from last year’s 880.5 percent. The companies on this year’s list employ more than 45,000 people. Complete results of the Inc. 500, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region, and other criteria, can be found at Inc.com/500

Despite the ongoing recession, the 2010 Inc. 500 offers a glimpse of the future of the U.S. economy. In the health sector, which saw aggregate revenue of $1.1 billion and a 917 percent median growth rate, businesses are moving forward on cancer and stem-cell research, clinical trials, and medication management. More than 25 percent of companies in the energy sector ($2.5 billion aggregate revenue; 942 percent median growth rate) focus on solar and other alternative sources. Fewer than a third of retailers ($356 million aggregate revenue; 914 percent median growth rate) have even a single brick-and-mortar store. And the number of companies providing technical services to the various branches of the federal government continues to rise.

Methodology

The 2010 Inc. 500 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2006 to 2009. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by June 30, 2006. Additionally, they had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2009. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2006 is $80,000; the minimum for 2009 is $2 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons. The companies of the Inc. 500 represent the top tier of the Inc. 5000, which can be found at www.inc.com/500.

Everybody knows a thousand clichés, but these phrases are honest and true. Today, I’m telling you the best family vacation is Orlando. It the bee’s knees.

Growing up two hours south of the magic, I’ve been to Walt Disney World well over forty times. But I before living in Florida my parents, in a van, took a family of seven to Walt Disney World. Then only Magic Kingdom & Epcot where open, the trip is my fondest memory from my childhood.

As I got older, now in my thirties, I realized it’s not “about the money”, it’s the memories we made. So if you traveling this summer by plane, train, bus, or car there is only one vacation for your family. And that’s the Magic of Orlando, especial my favorite place on earth…the Magic Kingdom.

Let’s face it we all work really hard week after week, supporting our families, paying bills and just trying to stay afloat.  Being so preoccupied with work, family and money most of us forget to take time for a vacation or just keep putting it off until the time is right. But let’s be honest there is no right time to take a vacation if you never set aside time for one. It’s a misconception that people think vacations are a luxury but studies are showing that they are necessary for good health.

Taking a vacation may not just be for pleasure any more, it may be good for your health as well. A study by Wisconsin Medical Journal found that women who took frequent vacations were less likely to become depressed and tired all the time. And a survey done by The University of New York found that men who took annual vacations reduced their risk of death and heart disease by 20%.

Men and women aren’t even using their vacation time from work anymore; they feel like if they work harder then maybe they will go further in their career. When really if you don’t take advantage of your annual vacation time you will become run down, tired and fed up with your job. You won’t be any good to your coworkers or to your family at home because you won’t be as happy and rested as you would be if you took a vacation.Vacations are supposed to be fun and exciting, something to look forward to, not something to stress you out or drain your bank account. There are plenty of ways out there to take a budget friendly vacation and not take months planning it.Taking a vacation doesn’t mean you need to take a month off to travel abroad. Depending on how much time your work allows a year, you can take a weekend or a week to relax and enjoy your family stress free. If you are saying to yourself, “I don’t even know where I would go on vacation”, well start thinking tropical beaches and clear blue water, sipping a cocktail on your balcony watching the sunset, or think about a family adventure in Orlando at Disney world and all the other fun theme parks. Just thinking about what kind of vacation you would want to go on is a good way to jumpstart the planning.

When you get back from the wonderful vacation you are about to plan you will be all around healthier and happier. Just by taking a few days off you can really change your health and your well being and who knows it might just help you live longer.

It seems like no matter what happens airfares are constantly increasing. I won’t even go into the ridiculous add-on fees like pay-to-pee or carry-on bag charges that are becoming airliners newest sources of revenue. However we all might be taking a hit this summer as the ripple effect of the 6 day shut-down in Europe reaches American shores.

The Volcano in Iceland is one reminder that we are not in charge here and I don’t think Mother Nature keeps a contingency fund for such events. Governments are keeping tight-lipped about any compensation for the Airline industry which leads to one conclusion- Increased fares.

How could this affect our domestic rates you ask? According to an article in yesterday’s New York Times the cancellations have cost the US economy $650 Million; much of that in lost airline revenue.  Nothing is certain yet but it looks like it might be a good year for a road trip.

No matter what part of the country you live in there are plenty of drivable vacations. If you have more time, visit one of our National Parks like Yellowstone or The Great Smokies. For a long weekend trip consider tourist centers like Colonial Williamsburg or San Antonio (vacation packages). Regardless of where you are there vacation options that are within reach and within your budget so start planning.

Spring is finally here bringing warmer weather, blossoming flowers, and BASEBALL SEASON! Why not take a mini-vacation and go see your favorite teams play!

Go check out the Arizona Diamondbacks! In May the average temperature in Phoenix is 93/64, making this the perfect opportunity to enjoy the sunshine and escape the cold weather! After the ball game, bring the family to the Phoenix Zoo, this is a privately owned non-profit zoo supported by donors and private organizations.  Feel like exploring? The South Mountain Park is over 16,000 acres and is considered the largest municipal park in the country. There are more than 50 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding! Need a place to stay???  The Legacy Golf Resort is only $119 for a 2 night stay!

It’s a two for one! Travel to Los Angeles and see the Dodgers and the Angeles play! While you are there you might as well check out a theme park or two? You can choose between Disneyland, Universal Studios, Six Flags, or Knott’s Berry Farm. Looking for affordable accommodations???  The Anaheim Plaza Hotel & Suites has a 3 night package for only $399 and it includes TWO adult Disneyland Tickets!

Head to Tampa to catch a Rays game! Attend a Saturday night game and enjoy a free concert! The 2010 Rays Summer Concert Series kicks off on April 24th with John Fogerty. Tampa is home to some of the world’s greatest beaches. So why not get a head start on your summer tan and go enjoy the white sandy beaches of Florida! Or if you need some adult time fun, head to the Yuengling Brewery where you can get a cold refreshment or two  and take a tour of the brewery to learn about the whole brewing process. Need a great deal on a Tampa resort???  Find a place to stay starting at $299 for a 2 Night Stay. Click here for more details.

We cannot forget about the Yankees! Travel to New York City where you can find excitement day and night! While you are at the game take a tour of Yankee Stadium. If you have never seen a Broadway play, I highly recommend it. You can visit the Empire State Building or the Statue of Liberty, or even browse the American Museum of Natural History. We offer great accommodation deals in New York City at the Park Central New York. Choose from 1 or 2 night packages with the option to add on additional nights.

Happy Vacationing!

Let’s face it- New York City can be expensive, REAL EXPENSIVE.  But it doesn’t have to be. There are tons of ways to have a great mini vacation while not breaking the bank. Here are two quick ideas of how to enjoy the city on a budget.

Travel Midweek: Hoteliers typically raise rates 20-25% on weekends and usually require a two night minimum stay. For example we have a midweek package at the Park Central Hotel from $89/night whereas we don’t even have access these packages on weekends. Plus a midweek trip can help avoid those post-vacation Monday morning doldrums.

Free Events The Summer Concert Series in New York’s Central park has been made famous by the likes of Simon & Garfunkel and Barbara Streisand but there is way more going on. The City Parks Foundation hosts tons of free events in the city’s park from dance performances to athletic events to hands-on events for kids, there is no reason for anyone to go bored.

Club freeTime offers a calendar of either free or deeply discounted activities in the city.

Whatever your flavor you can have a great trip New York City without sacrificing comfort or style.

It’s that time of year again. Your taxes have been filed and now it’s time to sit back and wait for your tax return. What better way of spending it, then going on a vacation?!

I am going to recommend that you take a nice family vacation to Orlando where you will find new adventures that the whole family can enjoy. Orlando has theme parks up the wazoooo!

  • Take the kids to see Mickey and Minnie at Disney World! Choose from 6 different Disney World parks including, Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Blizzard Beach, and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. If you stay at the Regal Sun Resort, located directly across the street from the park, you can even have breakfast with the Disney Characters.  This resort offers free shuttle service to the Disney Theme Parks for your convenience.

  • Go check out Universal Studios Orlando where you can find all kinds of exciting events.  The summer crowds have not yet arrived so the park is still manageable with shorter waits to get on the rides. Best of all the Florida weather is nice and temperate! Do not forget about the grand opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter on June 18th. The Liki Tiki Village Resort is a kid friendly resort that offers amenities to keep everyone entertained including, a game room, a heated outdoor swimming pool, movie rentals, sand volleyball, a playground, miniature golf, and Picnic Areas.

  • Explore SeaWorld and find excitement while visiting the animals in the exhibits, going on the rides, or watching the interactive shows.  Beginning at the end of May SeaWorld is open late for a special after dark event. You can experience SeaWorld dining, shopping, and all new just at night shows! Fun fact alert:  Some lizards have a tail with weakened vertebrae so it can break free and escape if caught by the tail. The tail can regenerate, though usually not to the same length and look of the original tail. The Calypso Cay Resort is a good option for a place to stay as it is centrally located among Orlando’s most popular attractions. This resort features a water slide that leads into a large heated pool!
